Mod Podge decoupage on a coffee table using old labels

Since the round table turned out so good we decided to cover the top of an old coffee table with whiskey labels. I am so glad I hung onto some of these labels. I can see I will be covering everything with them. The dog better watch  out.

I found that it's easier to apply the labels with Mod Podge if they are not overlapping like the last project. Paint on a layer of Mod Podge I used the matte Mod Podge, then smooth with your finger tips. I have a small pastry roller that works well for smoothing out the air bubbles and wrinkles.

Hubby decided to stick a couple more labels on top. I really was against it but it doesn't look too bad. Two coats of polyurethane and done!

It matches nicely with the round table. Great for a man cave. Tomorrow chalk boards from cabinet doors!

Thanks for stopping by.

Decoupage table tops using old labels!

After many years of having a blog and not using it I am up and running again. My creative juices are flowing. Spring is right around the corner and there is so much to do and share. Yesterday was project day. First I started off with a table from Ikea that was free on the local trading post. The table had a big scratch on the top so I sanded it smooth. I have a case of old vintage labels from a closed down Kentucky distillery. I thought this would be the perfect cover for this table. Mod Podge in hand here I go. My hubby is giving me a hand. Slow but sure it takes awhile. So there are some wrinkles. Worked on smoothing them out and used a small wooden roller and a straight pin to pop bubbles. Problem with working with vintage paper it wants to soak up all the moisture and it expands.
This is what it looks like after it is dry. Now to top it with a couple coats of polyurethane. This is a great Man cave table perfect for Bourbon Country. Next project a matching coffee table
